People often raise their eyebrows when directory submission comes into the fore. Perhaps the sole reason is that the people have started realizing that the glamors have been shifted from the directories in the meanderings of modern innovative avenues.

Incidentally, it has been noticed that even the most uncared directory can sustain its page rank.

Perhaps this throws a glance to the original requirements of directories and it has been also proved that search engines still value the directories. This is obvious that when a search engine values a directory, it has to show concern about its contains, which means the websites.

Perhaps we need to completely rework on part of the directory submission. The way we are used to place links in the website URL field, we may have to integrate links in the description also. The favorite keywords may be anchored by the hyperlinks and this has been closely observed that all such anchor texts are carefully noticed by search engine crawlers and spiders. This is also very important that you need to choose the right category in case of submission of your website.

Just like a normal visitor, Google also gets annoyed in finding an irrelevant website in a particular category. So, a casino can come in the category entertainment, but it can hardly appear in the category education.

A serious professional or webmaster never commits such blunders and even a new comer should strictly follow the relevance factor in case of directory submission.

The web directories had been invented with the objective of facilitating a better search environment for the browsing individuals. The overwhelming popularity of directories have authenticated the basic concept but the problem has occurred when people had started taking undue advantages of them.

Webmasters have found web directories to be a lucrative place to achieve one way links.

As directories are crawled by the search engines on a regular basis due to its immense popularity, the webmasters got a chance to highlight their websites through those directories.

On the other, people have started launching web directories like anything as they used to get a remarkable PRV in the beginning itself. The twin blow have affected the web directories badly and search engines have also started loosing their keenness in web directories.

The situation has become even worst when the directory owners have lost their interest to update them regularly and it is even observed that a submission is kept on hold for more than 3 months, by the time, even the link submitter might have forgotten.

As the initial objective of web directory had been really good, we should try to make them effective again.

Like a link submitter should find the real relevance before submission and a directory owner should be prompt enough in approving or discarding the websites. We must show respect to the originator as the creation had been for the benefits of people at large.
